Behind the Music...
dBsongs is Steve Sullivan & Ken Murray based in the UK. Their music travels internationally.
They have worked in the U.S with late and great American song-writing/production legend Billy Jackson
who wrote/produced for The Tymes, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Art Garfunkel and many more.
In that time, Steve provided the words and music for many of Jackson's artist projects, including the soundtrack for a animated super-hero adventure.
The dBsongs track titled "The Easiest Words" featured on Natalie Cole's CBS TV show and Edwin Starr collaborated lyrically on the song "Let It Fall".
Steve has written over 250 songs in a range of genres and he's proud that his creative partnership continues.
A dB - song always has a story in the lyric, a tune that will stick to your brain and you know that it was written over a cup of cold coffee, a guitar or a piano!
Steve vocalises the songs but he's a writer first and a singer second with a strong background in working with artists, collaborating to create their style.
Steve wrote tracks for UK artist Lachelle for her "Spirit" EP which captured imaginations in the States and
earned her studio sessions with the legendary Tymes, in world renowned Sigma Studios in Philadelphia.
Ken as a producer has spent his working career in studios, starting as a teenage tape operator, through to studio manager
for a major publishing company and also time spent as the programme director for an independent radio station in London.
Steve was discovered on one of Ken's radio shows whilst auditioning his band for a local talent
competition and they soon realised their mutual interest in music and a perfect creative vision.
Working with Mike Stock & Matt Aitken (The Hit Factory) taught
Ken a lot about music production. From using Linn drums, Simmons pads,
programmable synths to arranging and engineering with the latest technology
at the time, that is always developing and changing - and we adapt with it!
